TL;DR An RV gray water tank collects wastewater from your sinks and shower. It does not hold toilet waste. It’s a separate system from the black tank (toilet waste) and the fresh water tank (your drinking and washing supply). There’s no standard gray tank size. Capacity depends on your RV’s floorplan, and larger RVs sometimes … Read more
TL;DR Yes, you can technically put a regular toilet in an RV, but it only makes sense in specific setups. For a traveling RV, a household toilet usually causes more problems than it solves. It is most practical in a permanently parked RV with plumbing designed for a direct sewer connection. Household toilets use far … Read more
TL;DR SeeLevel is the stronger pick for most RV owners with conventional plastic or polyethylene holding tanks because it gives a percentage-based 0-100% readout instead of a simple on/off signal. Gobius Pro earns its place when a tank is metal, something SeeLevel can’t read at all. The real deciding factor isn’t Bluetooth or price. It’s … Read more
TL;DR If the smell started right when you hooked up, check your black tank valve first. It should stay closed at a sewer hookup, not open. Being connected doesn’t cause odor by itself. Gas needs an actual path in, like a dry P-trap, a stuck air admittance valve, or a bad hose seal. Fans, range … Read more
TL;DR The SeeLevel II tank monitor swaps factory probe sensors for external strips that read levels through the tank wall, avoiding the direct fouling that causes most false full readings. Accuracy can still be affected by installation, tank shape, grounding, and nearby metal. At publication, Garnet lists a 709-BTP7 system with three senders at about … Read more
TL;DR: For most RV owners, the Camco Rhino 36-Gallon (39006) is the best overall portable RV waste tank. It has no-flat wheels, a 3-inch gate valve, and a built-in rinser. Need more capacity or rough-terrain wheels? The Barker 42-Gallon 4-Wheeler (30844) uses pneumatic tires. Want overfill protection instead? The Thetford Titan 35-Gallon (40952) adds an … Read more
TL;DR: A permanent RV sewer hookup keeps your RV connected to a sewer or septic system for months or longer, not just a few days. Your main options are a heavy-duty flexible hose, a semi-permanent removable coupling, or rigid PVC pipe. PVC has to be sloped and supported correctly, and plumbing code minimums vary by … Read more
TL;DR: To hook up a camper to sewer, park close enough to reach the campground’s sewer inlet, then keep both tank valves closed while you connect. Attach the sewer hose to your RV’s waste outlet first, then to the sewer inlet, and support it so it slopes downhill the whole way. Leave the black tank … Read more
TL;DR If your black tank is empty but the monitor still reads Full or 2/3, the best pick for most RVers is Unique Restore-It , a purpose-built black tank sensor cleaner that works parked. Need results fast? Try Walex Commando (12 to 24 hours). For sensors on both tanks, use Thetford Level Gauge Cleaner. No … Read more
✓ TL;DR The Dometic 320 is the best overall pick for most larger RV owners, with an elongated bowl, an 18.25-inch seat, and the highest sourced weight-capacity figure here at 400 lbs, though that number is retailer-listed, not published by Dometic. If your bathroom can’t fit its 11-inch rough-in, the Thetford Aqua-Magic Style II fits … Read more
