✓ TL;DR For a floor-level small bathroom, the Dometic 410 is the safest porcelain pick at a 7.625 inch rough-in. On a raised platform, the Dometic 411 shares that rough-in with a lower seat. The Dometic 400 and 401 are among the lightest current choices in plastic, and the Thetford Aqua-Magic VI is a similarly … Read more
TL;DR: The Dometic 400 Essential is a lightweight plastic-bowl RV toilet built on Dometic’s newer 400-series platform. It uses the same short 7-5/8-inch rough-in as the porcelain Dometic 410, weighs about 9.5 lbs, and costs less than porcelain models. The main tradeoff is bowl care: plastic can stain and scratch more easily over time, so … Read more
TL;DR The Dometic 410 is one of Dometic’s newer porcelain RV toilets, built around a short 7.625-inch rough-in that fits many bathrooms where the older 310 or 320 won’t. It uses a tool-free ball seal, a reinforced valve, Dometic says testing to 150,000 flush cycles, and carries a 2-year warranty. Owners on RV forums report … Read more
TL;DR An RV black tank not draining usually comes down to one of seven issues: a clog at the valve outlet, too little water in the tank, a poo pyramid, a blocked roof vent, a valve that is not opening fully, a frozen tank, or a bad sensor reading. Before you touch anything, make sure … Read more

For mild cases, add dry coir and confirm the fan is running. A … Read more
✓ TL;DR An RV composting toilet that is set up correctly produces, at most, a faint earthy smell. If yours smells like ammonia, sewage, or anything sharp, the cause is almost always traceable: the fan is failing, the urine bottle is overfull, the vent is blocked, urine has reached the solids bin, the compost medium … Read more
TL;DR For most RV bathrooms, the Dometic 410 is the safest current porcelain pick at a 7.625-inch rough-in. For more space and an elongated bowl, the Dometic 320 fits at 11 inches and gives the best residential feel. The Dometic 310 sits between them at 10 inches and has a long track record. Measure rough-in, … Read more
TL;DR Installing a composting toilet in your RV takes 2–4 hours and doesn’t require advanced electrical experience. You’ll remove the old toilet, cap the black tank inlet and water line, bolt down the new unit, run a vent hose to an exterior wall or roof, wire the 12V fan, and load coconut coir. The vent … Read more
